YMCA Fundraiser – Edward Jones vs. EHM

As some of you know we had the opportunity to help raise money for the YMCA “BACK A YOUTH” program. The community had been raising money for quite some time, we pulled together with Edward Jones and the YMCA to plan a basketball game in order to help reach their goal of $155,000 in order to provide scholarships for youth to join the YMCA at no cost. Many other businesses in town helped put this event on:

All teams contributed to the oversized check that was presented to the Denny Price Family YMCA after the game. Funds were also raised by those in attendance through voting by donations to choose which team would dress up and perform during the half-time show. Team Edward Jones took home the win for the night but Team Ewbank, Hennigh and McVay showed their skills as well while hula hooping in dresses at the hilarious half-time performance.

At the end of the night we raised $2,252 which we were pleased with. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and help raise money for such a wonderful program.

The event was published in the April issue of ETOWN, local magazine right out of End, Oklahoma. Check it out…

Officials warning Oklahomans of jury duty scam

OKLAHOMA CITY – Officials are warning Oklahomans of a jury duty scam.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt issued a scam warning after several Oklahomans say they received phone calls from someone claiming to be from a sheriff’s office.

According to officials, the caller told citizens that they failed to appear for jury duty and now must pay a fine or be arrested.

“Neither the court nor law enforcement will ever call you regarding jury duty,” Attorney General Pruitt said. “Jury duty notices are sent by the court clerk, and these notices will always be sent to perspective jurors by mail. We encourage Oklahomans to contact our office if they feel they have been a victim of a scam or if they have been contacted through a suspicious phone call, e-mail or letter.”

The Attorney General’s Office listed the following tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of a telephone scam:

  • Try to verify the caller’s identity as well as the company they represent;
  • Don’t provide personal or financial information unless you have initiated the call to a verified reputable person, business or government entity;
  • Never send money through a wire transfer or other means unless you are sending to a close friend or family member;
  • Don’t feel pressured to give information or send money quickly.

Please contact local law enforcement if you have been a victim of a scam.
